The time has arrived to combine your culinary skills with your love of magic mushrooms. It’s not like there’s any other logical reason to make magic mushroom gummies. After all, it would be much easier to make a cup of mushroom tea. This is all about trying to make magic mushrooms tastier using your fine gummy-making skills.

Making magic mushroom gummies isn’t as complicated as it sounds. It’s kind of like making jello except it’s a little thicker. And it contains magic mushrooms, of course. Plus, this is a fun recipe because you get to prepare a simple magic mushroom extract just with mushrooms and water. This way, you don’t have to tolerate powdered magic mushrooms in your gummies!

There’s lots of liberty in this recipe. The flavour is entirely up to you. The amount of magic mushrooms is also entirely up to you! This magic mushroom gummies recipe can easily be used as a fun way to take macrodoses or as a delicious treat that contains your regular microdose.

We think your friends will be rightly impressed when you show up with a batch of homemade magic mushroom gummies. And you’ll probably impress yourself while you’re at it. Let’s jump straight into how to make magic mushroom gummies. To heat or not to heat magic mushrooms? There’s a lot of controversy over whether heating magic mushrooms degrades psilocybin or not. There are some who say that heating psilocybin reduces its strength, while others say that only high temperatures degrade the quality of psilocybin. There are others all together who don’t believe that heat has any effect at all on psilocybin.

The reason we don’t know is because nobody has proven this scientifically. Having said that, there are lots of people who prepare their magic mushrooms as a tea. It’s reported to be stronger than consuming dried magic mushrooms. In either case, this recipe for magic mushroom gummies doesn’t use high heat — there’s no boiling of the magic mushrooms. So we think that psilocybin is completely safe in this recipe. In fact, we think this recipe will produce strong psilocybin effects because the mushrooms will be extracted into a tea. Anything that’s dissolved is easier for the body to absorb — and the same goes for psilocybin.

What you’re going to need and how much magic mushrooms to use. For making gummies, you’re going to need some sort of mould. A silicone ice tray is completely sufficient. Consider the size of the gummies, too. If you’re so inclined, you can even purchase different shaped moulds to give your gummies exciting visual appeal. Because there’s no way of knowing how big everybody’s mould will be, there’s no way of knowing how much of the recipe will fit into the silicone mould. It might not all fit… or it might not take up the whole mould.

In either case, use the number of spaces in your mould as a rough guide as to how many gummies you’re going to have. If you have 12 spaces, for example, assume you’ll have “roughly” 12 gummies.

Now you have to decide how much magic mushrooms you’ll include in this recipe. If you’ll be microdosing, aim to have no more than 0.1g in each gummy. If you’re going to be microdosing, you could aim for 0.5g in each piece, and you could eat more than one gummy if you wanted to take the dosing further.

If, for example, you have 12 gummy spaces in your mould and you’re aiming for 0.1g in each gummy, you’ll need 1.2g magic mushrooms. If you’ve got 12 gummy spaces and you’re aiming for 0.5g in each gummy, you’ll need 6g magic mushrooms.

If you end up needing to use two moulds or there’s some spill over into another mould, you’ll have to backtrack the math to know how much is in each piece. For example, if you started with 6g magic mushrooms but you ended up with 16 gummies, then each of your gummies will actually contain 0.375g magic mushrooms.

For the record, you can use any strain of magic mushrooms that you like. How to make magic mushroom gummies.

Now that we’ve gone through all the mathematical aspects of making magic mushroom gummies, it’s time to get in the kitchen and start preparing! What you’re going to need:

  1. Prepare the mushroom extract. Put your powdered magic mushrooms in a small cup. Cover with 1/3 cup freshly boiled water. If 1/3 cup is not enough to submerge your mushrooms, you can use a little bit more until they are fully submerged. Mix with a spoon, set aside, and allow to extract for at least 15-20 minutes.

  2. Prepare the mould. Spray a paper towel with some non-stick cooking oil spray. Use it to wipe the inside of each space of the mould so that it's lightly greased. This will help you remove the gummies later.

  3. Strain the mushroom extract. Using a cheesecloth , strain your mushroom extract to separate the powdered mushrooms from the liquid. Squeeze the cheesecloth to extract as much of the liquid as possible. The final amount should measure 1/3 cup. If it's short, you can add cold water as necessary to make it 1/3 cup.

  4. Combine the jello, gelatin, and rind. In a small bowl, combine the lime rind, jello, and gelatin with your magic mushroom liquid. Whisk together well and let them sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to soften and mix.

  5. Warm, stir, warm stir. Put the bowl in the microwave for 15 seconds. Remove it and whisk. Do this one or two more times as necessary to get all the sugar of the jello to fully dissolve. Only microwave in 15 second increments as you don't want to heat the mixture any more than necessary.

  6. Pour and set. Once all of the sugar is dissolved, transfer the liquid to a small pouring jug with a lip. Use this to carefully fill the spaces of your mould. Put the mould/s in the fridge and allow to set for 20-30 minutes or until they're fully set.

  7. Coat in citric acid (optional) To give your gummies an optional sour twist, toss each gummy through some citric acid. This will make them taste sour and will give them a sugar coated look.

  8. Count your gummies and enjoy. Now it's time to count your gummies so that you know the exact dose in each of your pieces. Simply divide your initial magic mushroom amount by the number of gummies in your batch.

Now all there's left to do is enjoy your magic mushroom gummies! Keep them stored in the fridge for a maximum of one week and make sure to label the jar very well! Now that you know how to make magic mushroom gummies, you can try making them in all of your favourite flavours and with all of your favourite magic mushroom strains.
