From the wonderful sensations they trigger to the enigmatic substances they naturally create, magic mushrooms are so amazing and intriguing. The fact that psilocybin is present in over 180 different types of mushrooms that grow in the wild all over the world is even more astounding. Not to add, some species have dozens of distinct strains, each with a distinctive look, taste, and high (Psilocybe cubensis, for example). Before we discuss Psilocybe cubensis, though, let's define what a magic mushroom strain is.

What is a Magic Mushroom Strain?

A strain and a species are distinct. A discrete genetic grouping of creatures with the ability to reproduce together is referred to as a species.

A strain is a subgrouping within a species that denotes a particular phenotypic or morphology. In other words, every species has its own genetic makeup. The genetic makeup of strains within a species is the same, but some genes are more active than others, leading to subtle variations in their appearance or sensation.

Let's use humans as an illustration: A person of African ancestry (of any strain or race) can conceive just as effortlessly as a person of Caucasian ancestry. Although they are regarded as a distinct race (strain), they can still procreate because they belong to the same species (Homo sapiens).

Mushrooms are the same way. There are hundreds of distinct strains of the Psilocybe cubensis species, and each one grows a little bit differently. However, this species' various strains can interbreed. On the other hand, due to their genetic separation, Psilocybe cubensis and Panaeolus cyanescens strains cannot interbreed. Understanding the Psilocybe cubensis species - History, Cultivation and Study

Psilocybe cubensis photographed in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico by Alan Rockefeller.

Psilocybin and psilocin are the main active ingredients in the psychedelic mushroom species Psilocybe cubensis. It is a member of the fungus family Hymenogastraceae and is also known as shrooms, magic mushrooms, golden halos, cubes, or gold caps. Its original name was Stropharia cubensis.

A little bit of history won’t hurt at all.

History

By the name Stropharia cubensis, American mycologist Franklin Sumner Earle initially identified the species in Cuba in 1906. French pharmacist and mycologist Narcisse Théophile Patouillard described it as Naematoloma caerulescens in Tonkin (now northern Vietnam) in 1907, whereas William Alphonso Murrill named it Stropharia cyanescens close to Gainesville in Florida in 1941. The species was given the scientific name Psilocybe cubensis in 1949 by German-born mycologist Rolf Singer, who also placed it in the Psilocybe genus. Later, the synonyms were also given to the Psilocybe cubensis species.

Cultivation

Due to the favorable conditions that cattle give for the establishment of the fungus, Psilocybe cubensis naturally occurs in tropical and subtropical regions, frequently close to them. Psilocybe cubensis spores are typically found on grains or grass that the cow eats, and the fungus will start to grow in the excrement afterward. Psilocybe cubensis is a common indoor mushroom that may be grown on a variety of substrates, including coffee, brown rice flour, sawdust, and straw. The best substrate for growing Psilocybe cubensis is reportedly rye grain. It is advised to leave the container at room temperature or "case" it with dirt while growing mushrooms in a jar.

Study

In comparison to mushrooms cultivated in bright, indirect light, which had the lowest levels, a 2009 study found that mushrooms grown in the dark had higher levels of psilocybin and psilocin.

A computer program and an environmental controlled wind tunnel were used in studies to trace the growth and development of Psilocybe cubensis basidiocarps and discover how humidity affected each one of their basidiocarps. The air's humidity had a significant impact on the mushroom's transpiration and development; at greater air humidities, the transpiration was increased, whilst light had little impact on the growth. Higher humidity levels led to faster growth being seen. Additionally, it was shown that misting accelerated Psilocybe cubensis plant growth and transpiration rates.

Our emphasis is on these two strains which are HillBilly Psilocybe Cubensis and AA+ Psilocybe Cubensis.

HillBilly Psilocybe Cubensis

A strain is hidden among the warm, muggy hills deep in the American South. Hillbilly Cubensis, a very strong member of the Cubensis fungus family, is native to Arkansas. It is comparable to other members of its family, such as Amazonians and Golden Teachers. These days, this strain is thriving naturally on five additional continents. Hillbillies resemble normal Cubensis in appearance; they have shallower, smaller heads with a pronounced orange coloration all around. The Hillbilly mushroom's stalk has a slightly smaller diameter than its cap; it is initially thicker near the cap on top and then thinner as it descends toward the base of the mushroom.

This fungus is a fantastic all-around mushroom for novice and experienced mushroom hunters. If you want to buy your own magic mushrooms AKA psilocybin mushrooms, we sell dry magic mushrooms here. Experience

When using Hillbilly mushrooms, users report vivid exhilaration and visuals. The Hillbilly Cubensis has the potential to induce a potent psychedelic experience, much as all psilocybin mushrooms. These journeys typically start in 30 to 60 minutes with brief, mild yawning episodes, which are frequently followed by wide smiles and fits of laughter. After roughly one hour, the effects reach their peak and can continue for up to six hours. Some individuals may get altered perceptions of time and develop visual hallucinations.

Potency

The Hillbilly Psilocybe Cubensis is a moderately potent strain of Magic Mushroom.

Now, let’s talk about AA+ Psilocybin Cubensis.

AA+ Psilocybe Cubensis

The well-known hallucinogenic mushroom species Psilocybe cubensis has a cultivated strain known as Albino A+[i], or AA+. It usually ranges from cream to white, occasionally with a bluish hue; when bruised, it does so extremely visibly. When the purple-black spores reach maturity, they cover the stem-ring and give it a black appearance. These mushrooms are officially "leucistic," not albinos, because they have diminished pigmentation rather than none at all. This is fantastic news for gardeners because actual albino mushrooms have colorless, nearly invisible spores that make them difficult to work with.

There is also a variant known as A+ that is more frequently pigmented. They are obviously linked and quite similar to one another. Strangely, sources disagree as to which strain is the parent, but logic points to the non-albino variant as the original. In either case, AA+ is the most widely used rating.

Since albino A+'s high is said to be similar to the effects of some of the more strong Panaeolus species, there has been ongoing conjecture that albino A+ is truly a hybrid of the two. Although it is likely difficult for such hybridization to occur between separate genera, there may be some coincidental molecular similarities.

It's crucial to keep in mind that albino A+ is very popular because of its high potency and powerful flushes.

Experience

Eating Psilocybe cubensis typically causes changes in mood and thinking patterns, as well as hallucinations at greater doses. Unfortunately, nausea is also rather typical. Children are most likely to experience negative side effects, though they are uncommon. Though longer trips are conceivable, the typical high lasts six to eight hours and starts roughly 30 minutes after intake.

It's debatable whether any of the aforementioned changes in response to strain. While some claim that "a cube is a cube," others contend that each strain is unique. The latter group claims that albino A+ starts quickly, is frequently humorous, and induces hallucinations that cause the environment to appear gelatinous.

Albino A+ is a peculiar strain that is also renowned for having a particularly potent flavor that some consumers dislike.

Potency

The potency of different strains varies. One of the more potent Psilocybe cubensis strains is albino A+.

Growing Albinos A+

Any technique typically used to grow Psilocybe cubensis can also be used to grow albino A+. It isn't a finicky variety and is regarded as being simple to grow. Though many growers claim it is a slow strain with a very long colonization time and slow fruiting, some growers claim the timing is about average.

Hence, what makes albino A+ unique among magic mushroom cultivators, despite its occasionally slow development, is the consistency of the strain's growth, the generosity of its flushes, and the abundant output of spores by its mature specimens.
