The wonderful world of psychedelics is one that I could compare to wonderland. Except this time around, thanks to some hardworking scientists and a happy mistake here and there, we now have multiple access routes other than going down the conventional Rabbit's Hole. What I am saying in essence is that there are numerous ways of experiencing a psychedelic trip with ranging number of effects. The classes of psychedelic drugs that are in existence would amaze you. In today's article, we'll be discussing One of such ways: LSD analogs.

Fair Warning, it might get a bit technical throughout this article, but then again, who doesn't love a little bit of mind trip here and there.

There are many LSD analogs with nearly comparable effects. One such analog is the 1P-LSD. Although there is a little chemical difference, new research even implies that 1P-LSD is a prodrug of LSD. This indicates that taking 1P-LSD will result in the conversion of LSD into psychedelic effects. If you're thinking of trying to grow your own psychedelic psilocybin magic mushrooms, you can try our grow kit... The ZoomBag magic mushroom grow kit! Check it out right here. And you will one step closer on knowing how to grow magic mushrooms.

What is 1P-LSD?

One of the lysergamide classes of psychedelic drugs, 1P-LSD, also goes by the name 1-propionyl-lysergic acid diethylamide. It is a functional analogue, derivative, and homologue of LSD, which essentially means it's a modified form of the original LSD-25 that Albert Hofmann discovered in 1943. The propionyl group that is connected to the nitrogen molecule in the indole component of LSD makes this molecule distinct from that drug.

The distinguishing component of all other tryptamine-based psychedelics, including DMT and psilocybin, is the core indole molecule of LSD [1]. Even 1P-LSD has only a slight psychedelic effect. Compared to LSD-25, it has a 3.5-fold increase in h5-HT2C receptor activity, a 13-fold decrease in 5-HT2A receptor activity, and a 67-fold lower binding affinity for 5-HT1A receptors [2].

History and Culture of 1P-LSD

When 1P-LSDfirst surfaced a few years ago, its history and culture took off. A completely validated LC-MS/MS method was used to analyze urine and serum samples after two human volunteers underwent controlled oral and intravenous self-administrations of 100 g of 1P-LSD hemitartrate.

After Albert Hofmann identified its psychedelic properties in 1943, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) quickly gained popularity as an experimental substance. The discovery that it interacted with the serotonergic system and the capacity to provide psychedelic effects at modest doses ( 100 g) led to extensive research into the neurotransmitter system at the time.

The usage of 1-alkylated lysergamide derivatives to circumvent laws banning LSD as a precursor was foreseen in a DEA report from 1988, which is interesting to note. Cooper noted that a decrease in hallucinogenic activity may become acceptable to the U.S. clandestine chemist when it was brought up that lysergic acid amide is classified as a Schedule III substance in the CFR and that consequently, structurally identical substances of this chemical are exempt from the CsA amendment.

Where Did 1P-LSD Come from?

Remember when I said a happy mistake, well, that is a little bit of foreshadowing that I'll be saving for another article. Nonetheless, Chemists have been looking for new psychedelic "research chemicals" or "designed drugs" since the prohibition of LSD and other psychedelics in 1966. Researchers like Dr. David E. Nichols (Purdue University) and Alexander Shulgin have achieved significant advancements over time. It's interesting that 1P-LSD, which changes the LSD molecule by adding a propionyl group to the nitrogen molecule of the LSD's indole, has been offered online as a research chemical since 2015, but it's unclear when it was first created. Contrary to the majority of research chemicals, it wasn't listed in the research literature until it first appeared inside the independent research chemicals marketplace in 2015.

Other LSD Analogs and Derivatives

  • 1B-LSD

  • 1Cp-LSD

  • AL-LAD

  • ALD-52

  • ETH-LAD

  • LSM-775

  • LSZ

  • PRO-LAD

Additionally, geometric visual hallucinations, time dilation, improved introspection, intellectual thinking, pleasure, and ego loss are all subjective effects of 1P-LSD. Despite evidence suggesting that 1P-subjective LSD's effects are strikingly comparable to those of LSD, it is believed to function as a precursor to LSD.

Subjective Effects

As is often the case with psychedelics, its effects could be quite subjective despite scientific evidence (or the lack thereof). Numerous users' anecdotal experiences indicate that 1P-LSD and LSD have subjective effects that are nearly identical to one another. Regarding the distinctive style of its physical and cognitive effects, 1P-LSD is substantially more exciting and fast-paced than other LSD such as psilocybin, LSA, and ayahuasca.

It is important to remember that, despite higher dosages being more likely to cause the whole spectrum of effects, these effects may not always happen in a predictable or dependable way. Similar to positive effects, negative effects become more probable with higher doses and can include addiction, severe harm, or even death.

  • Physical Effects

The Physical Effects of 1P-LSD is thought to be energizing and invigorating without being forced for instance, when consumed in any setting, it typically promotes physical activities like jogging, walking, climbing, or dancing. The physical effects consist of: stimulation; unexpected physiological sensations; tactile improvement- of which the majority of 1P-LSD experiences are consistently accompanied by mild feelings of enhanced tactile sensations; Stamina enhancement; Nausea; appetite suppression; Bodily control enhancement; difficulty urinating; and increased blood pressure.

  • Cognitive Effects

The cognitive effects are consistent in its manifestation and introspection dominant, and it entails analysis enhancement; anxiety & paranoia; increased sense of humor; focus enhancement; conceptual thinking; creativity enhancement; and emotion enhancement

  • Visual Effects

The visual effects culminate in enhancement in colour, pattern recognition, and visual acuity enhancement. Also, it causes internal and external hallucination, and distortions which result in drifting (melting, breathing, morphing and flowing), colour shifting, colour tinting, tracers, depth perception distortions, perspective distortions, recursion and symmetrical texture repetition.

  • Transpersonal effects

These effects cause spirituality enhancement, existential self-realization, and, unity and interconnectedness.

How Long Does 1P-LSD Last?

With a half-life of between 6 and 10 hours, 1P-LSD lasts about as long as LSD. LSD is produced after ingesting 1P-LSD. Although it happens swiftly, the length of time it takes for the consequences to manifest is increased. While 1P-LSD can take up to an hour and a half to start working, LSD typically takes less than 30 minutes (usually around an hour). Given that the predicted time to experience the effects of acid is between 6 and 10 hours, the equivalent time for 1P-LSD is between 7 and 11 hours.

How to Take 1P-LSD

LSD and 1P-LSD are administered similarly. However, before swallowing it whole, it is spread out across a square of blotter paper and held there for 10 to 15 minutes. The capillaries under the tongue allow the active substances to enter the bloodstream directly. If you swallow the tab, however, 1P-LSD might actually start working more quickly. This is due to the psychedelic's dependence on the liver for activation, unlike acid. Now let's move on to one of the burning questions you may have.

How strong is 1P-LSD compared to other psychedelics?

According to weight, 1P-LSD is one of the most potent psychedelics available. All psychoactive LSD compounds, which are powerfully psychoactive at sub-milligram doses, share this distinction.

For instance, the dosage of 1P-LSD is approximately 200 micrograms, or 0.2 milligrams. Contrast this with the active component of magic mushrooms, psilocybin, which is closer to 10 milligrams. N, N-DMT, the active component in ayahuasca, is close to 50 mg, and 5-MeO-DMT, the active ingredient in Bufo alvarius road (another potent psychedelic), has a dose of about 8 milligrams.

1P-LSD vs. LSD-25

The original LSD, developed by Albert Hofmann in the 1940s, is known as LSD-25. It is the substance that gained notoriety during the 1960s and beyond thanks to individuals like Timothy Leary, Richard Alpert (Ram Dass), Nicolas Sand, Tum Sully, Ralph Metzner, and others.

When compared to LSD-25, 1P-LSD is essentially the same. Some studies claim that 1P-LSD is weaker, while others claim that it is stronger. According to most experts, the two have the exact same outcomes and dose.

1P-LSD vs AL-LAD

Another LSD-25 derivative, AL-LAD (N6-allyl-6-norlysergic acid diethylamide), shares a molecular structure with 1P-LSD. There are a few little perceived differences, but the does and overall experience are extremely similar. For instance, AL-Lad is regarded as a more laid-back variation of acid. It is less introspective but has a bigger visual component.

1P-LSD vs. LSA

The active component of Hawaiian baby woodrose and morning glory vine is LSA (lysergic acid amide). Although there are a few significant distinctions, it is quite similar to the effects of LSD derivatives like 1P-LSD. LSA isn't as powerful as 1P-LSD. Compared to 1P-LSD, the usual psychoactive dose is approximately 800 micrograms.

In addition, the LSA experience is more lucid and sedative than introspective and psychedelic. People frequently experience complicated, vivid dreams while sleeping as a result of it.

1P-LSD vs. ALd-52

With the exception of possessing an additional carbon atom, 1P-LSD and ALD-52 are homologous, meaning they are almost identical. In terms of structure, 1P-LSD has an acetyl group while ALD-52 has a propionyl group connected to the nitrogen atom in the indole group. These two compounds' actions are remarkably similar.

In Summary...

There is no known toxic dose for 1P-LSD. Higher doses, however, raise the possibility of negative psychological effects. Anxiety, delusions, panic attacks, and, less frequently, seizures are some of these reactions. As a result, it is important that before any psychedelic trip, set and setting are thoroughly handled.
